8 To-Dos To Maximize Your Photoshoot

Updated: Jul 18, 2022

Most photography sessions are only an hour long. Typically in an hour long session you may only be able to change into two maybe three outfits. Some photographers even limit the number of outfit changes that you can do, depending on the type of photography package you purchase.

After consistently building content for my brand through photography for the past 3 years, I've learned how to best maximize my photography sessions.

  1. Book with a photographer you trust that can easily see your vision and specialize in the type of photography that you are seeking.

  2. Write down or type your photo ideas in the note's section of your phone or tablet. Try to find photos that may have a similar idea as you have in mind to show the photographer, if necessary.

  3. Plan your outfits to match your photo ideas. Pack all of your outfits, shoes, accessories, makeup, comb, brush, etc in a suitcase or bag the night before the shoot.

  4. Gather any branded materials that you may want to use in the photo. Pack these items in a bag or suitcase the night before the shoot.

  5. Plan out outfit changes so you can maximize them.

  6. Have someone assist you for the photoshoot to help move things along.

  7. Go to the photoshoot makeup ready and already in look 1.

  8. During your shoot have your photo idea notes and check off your ideas as you and the photographer work through them.
